Statement of Faith and Beliefs
In essential beliefs, we seek unity with all those who profess Christ as Savior and Lord (Ephesians 4:4-6); in non-essential beliefs, we claim liberty of conscience (Romans 14:1,4,12,22); and in all our beliefs, we will endeavor to show charity to all (1 Corinthians 13:2).
We will adhere to the essentials of the gospel as follows:
God, as creator and ruler of the universe has eternally existed in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who are co-equal with each other and are one God (Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19).
Jesus Christ is the Son of God who lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. After three days He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven to sit at the Father's right hand awaiting His return to earth to reign forever as King of kings and Lord of lords (John 1:1-5; Hebrews 4:14-15).
Holy Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus . From the moment of salvation He takes up residence in every believer, illuminating minds with spiritual truth and empowerment and guidance for living a Christ-like life. He gives to each a spiritual gift to build up His body, the church (2 Corinthians 3:17; Acts 1:8).
The Bible is God's Holy Word - His mind revealed to humans. It was written by human authors under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and as such is infallible and inerrant in the original languages (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21). Mankind is made in the spiritual image of God. God made all things and called them good but human sin marred those things and it's sin that separates humans from God (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6).
Salvation is God's free gift to humans to bridge this separation but we cannot earn it; only accept it by faith in Jesus Christ. Eternal life begins at that moment and never ends (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9).
Eternal security refers to the fact that God cannot revoke His promise nor can humans "lose" their salvation. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God (John 10:29; 1 Peter 1:3-5).
Eternity - people are created to live forever - either eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through His forgiveness and salvation. Eternal separation is called hell and eternal union is eternal life with God in heaven (John 3:16; Romans 6:23).
